And the first ever AutoPacific President’s Award goes to… the Hyundai Sonata!
Two thoughts come to mind when people start talking about long waits and being satisfied. Though it only be twelve hours from when between Christmas Eve and Christmas Morning, it always feels like an eternity. An unfair and cruel punishment in knowing that sweet childhood memories, not to mention the brand new action figure with the kung fu grip, are so close and yet hang just out of reach. Then I think of being satisfied and all that comes to mind is that obnoxious Rolling Stones tune, but that doesn’t really matter right now.
The internet is alive with the sound of reviews over the new 2011 Hyundai Sonata. It seems torturous to get excited about something that’s so far away. You couldn’t walk into any of the dealerships in Bloomington, IL and say I want to see the 2011 model. Critics talk and talk and talk about the presents that are not even close to being twelve hours away. Getting the consumer’s hopes way up and then hoping they can keep them that high for a full year. The only thing that will breed is over hype and disappointment.
Or will it? The pursuit or joy of knowing there is something on the horizon does give hope to people. I’ve been waiting for the iPhone to come to Verizon now for years, and every year they tell me January. January comes around every year as the calendar promises and yet, no iPhone for me! The point is I’m still excited at the prospect no matter how far away it may be that someday I could have the coolest gadget with far better service than my suffering AT&T counterparts. My point is while waiting and learning more about the new gadget, whether an iPhone on Verizon or a new Sonata that’s a year away, it’s important to focus on the now.
Take advantage of the opportunities at hand like a used Hyundai Veracruz. Bloomington dealers have them in stock and can’t wait to get you driving one while you wait to come back in 2011. Enjoy the now, even though kung fu grip is just a button that makes Duke’s arm go up and down, the buttons in the new 2011 Sonata will bring much more satisfaction after the long wait.
