2010 Hyundai Tucson sales up 120% in the month of January

With the recession still causing consumers to watch their spending, everyone’s been quick to say the automotive industry is in a slump. At many dealerships, lots are bursting with unsold vehicles as inventory continues to accumulate in the absence of steady consumer demand. Production has slowed and factory workers are laid off to cut costs.

However, despite industry-wide financial distress, one automaker hasn’t heard the news. During the month of January, Hyundai Motors experienced a surge in sales, which jumped by 24 percent in the United States.

The total sales for this month stood at 30.503 units, the best since the government’s “Cash-for-Clunkers” program. In 2008, this figure was 24.512 units. This success marks the 13th consecutive month of year-over-year retail market share gains for Hyundai.

Even more impressive, the all-new 2010 Hyundai Tucson, which went on sale in the beginning of January, boasted a 128 percent sales increase. Needless to say, consumers were impressed with the new vehicle from Hyundai. Bloomington motorists, therefore, should expect to encounter many more Hyundai models on the road following such an explosion in sales.

The sub-compact Accent and Elantra sales increased by 61 and 133 percent, respectively. The top-selling vehicle in January was the Elantra sedan with sales of 7.605 units. It beat out the 2010 Santa Fe, whose sales increased by 43 percent from January 2008.

The trend of rising sales is certainly a contagious one. Don’t believe me? Take a drive by the local dealership in a used Hyundai Veracruz. Bloomington Hyundai lots are buzzing with activity and the prospect of another satisfied customer.

On the wave of this recent success, Hyundai plans to launch seven new models over the next 24 months. The 2010 Hyundai Tucson and 2011 Sonata Sedan represent two of these seven new products. In addition, consumers can expect a completely redesigned Elantra compact sedan, Veloster coupe, and slightly updated Genesis sedan.

With all of these product launches, Hyundai will be in a very competitive position for 2010 and beyond. If consumer demand continues to increase, both Hyundai and prospective buyers stand to benefit.

  1. Hyundai did a great work designing the new Tucson so attractively inside out. This is, in addition to new Kia Sportage and Ford Kuga, the best looking compact crossover currently available on the market. It will definately increase its sales further. Hopefully, Hyundai will have enough production capacity to meet the demand!

  2. I have read in some newspapers that in the month of April the sales report of Hyundai Tucson is a record breaker score which cross all the previous records. I think this is the one model in which people can faith more. Isn’t it?
